The Stenson Fields

If you ever find yourself around Pilgrims Way in Sinfin, Derby and crave a place that’s got everything from hearty English classics to a fun pub-like vibe, The Stenson Fields is definitely worth checking out. Tucked in DE24 3JG, this spot manages to be a casual hangout, a go-to meal spot, and a local watering hole-all in one. It's the kind of place where you could swing by for a quick bite, settle in for a full English breakfast, or catch the match with a pint of Guinness.

The first thing to know? This isn’t just any pub-style restaurant. It’s got that charming British comfort feel but also adds its own spin with a seriously diverse menu. The Fish and Chips, always hot and crispy, come paired with peas and a perfect batter that’s golden without being greasy. For those mornings when only a fry-up will do, their English Breakfast is exactly what you'd expect-generous, satisfying, and cooked to order.

Now, for burger fans, there’s something bold and filling on offer: the Double Chicken Burger. It's a no-nonsense, stacked meal that works just as well for lunch or dinner. They’ve even got combo plates like the Steak and Chicken Combo or Surf and Turf, which are ideal if you're the kind of diner who can’t pick just one protein. Prefer a bit of heat? Go for the Chicken New York or the Chicken Gammon with Chips and Fried Egg for something more traditional yet incredibly satisfying.

Vegetarians and light eaters aren’t left out either. Options like the Quorn Sweet Chilli Nuggets, Halloumi Sizzler with Onion Rings, and Peppers with Spaghetti Bolognese give the menu a broad appeal. Whether you're here for pub grub, something a bit healthier, or just a comforting plate of pasta, there's a dish waiting with your name on it.

From a drink standpoint, The Stenson Fields absolutely delivers. The bar boasts a great beer selection, including crowd-pleasers like Guinness and Heineken. They serve great cocktails, fine wines, and even have a solid list of spirits if you’re looking for something with a bit more bite. And yes, they serve food at the bar, making it easy to grab a small plate or a quick bite if you're not settling in for a full sit-down.

The vibe here is exactly what you’d want in a community-centered place. It’s popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it’s totally solo-diner-friendly. With quiz nights, bar games, and TVs for watching sport, there’s always something going on that adds to the social energy. It’s lively but not overwhelming. You could go in for coffee and dessert-because yes, their coffee is great, and they’ve got desserts worth saving room for-or just hang out with mates over a pint.

Accessibility-wise, it covers most bases. There's a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, and toilet, though it’s worth noting it doesn’t have a designated car park for those who drive. Still, it’s an easy in-and-out for most guests, and there’s outdoor seating too, perfect when the Derby weather decides to behave.

Their service model is super flexible-delivery, takeaway, and dine-in options are all available. Whether you’re eating in, grabbing something to go, or getting it delivered straight to your door, they make it easy. And for those short on time or just wanting something casual, the quick bite and small plates offerings really hit the spot.

Honestly, what makes The Stenson Fields stand out is that it isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s dependable, delicious, and refreshingly unpretentious. The kind of place where regulars know what they want, and newcomers feel instantly welcome. From the Chicken Sandwich to the Picada, and from a simple cup of tea to a full meal with wine and dessert, it’s a spot that gets the basics right-and adds just enough flair to keep you coming back.

We were trying to find somewhere to eat within Stenson, when my husband phoned and booked and we were told "it is dead as a dodo just come on down" i knew what type of place it would be... But the menu online seemed good so we gave it a go. It is exactly what I thought it would be, a pub which doesn't really put any effort in to cleanliness, just like other Sizzling Pubs we have been to. All the forks on our table had food stuck between them, I had to go grab some from a different table. And there was lipstick on my glass. When we mentioned it to a member of staff they did offer to get me a new glass but didn't offer an apology. A member of staff also wanted to reach over us to grab our menus and number which was strange especially as we were in the middle of eating... The place only had a few people in so not sure why that couldn't have waited until we had finished. I had the Halloumi skillet, it was spitting hot when arrived and wasn't too bad, I do enjoy sweet chilli sauce but it was completely smothered which ruined it, it would be better in a pot I think so that the customer can add the amount they want. My husband had Steak which he enjoyed and my MIL had fish and chips which she also enjoyed. Apart from the cleanliness it wasn't too bad. It was easy to order on the app as well.

We was served by Amy, and she was very helpful and polite, the food was lovely, we had a mixture of dishes, the crispy sweet chili chicken, sausage and mash and the curry house feast and they were all lovely and plenty on the plates. The price was really reasonable and they have lots of specials too. Would highly recommend this pub.
